THE FUTURE IS YOURS

Sometimes, things can be overwhelming, however, no-one is an island.
We are available to work with you within therapy to clear that path

TRAUMA & GRIEF THERAPIES

We listen and are guided by you to help you understand how past experiences, often from childhood, affect life now and the way in which you view yourself, behave and react.

There is not one particular point in life when people turn towards a therapist, however, it is often when confronted by the sense of stuck feelings or being unable to define and find meaning in life.

Significant events such as bereavement or loss, relationship issues, mental or physical abuse, questioning who you are, or feeling lost are very common reasons for seeking a therapist. Depression and anxiety are often prevalent in such circumstances and very difficult to get over alone, that is where we can help you resolve the issues and teach you simple coping techniques to use in your everyday life outside the therapy room.

Beginning therapy and moving through the process can be daunting as it often brings up difficult or painful emotions and memories but by using what is called "Content Free Therapy"  there is no need to revisit or verbalise past trauma in order to resolve the issues and is more gentle than many talking therapies.

Our goal is to create a safe therapeutic environment for you to feel empowered to change and move forward more positively in your life.

It is our job to support you gently and safely in the processes of self-discovery, recovery, healing, and growth.
We deeply respect each and every one of our clients and feel honored to be able to support them in changing their lives.

CONFIDENCE

Thoughts are automatic and embedded in our minds, formed over time. If you have ever looked in a mirror and something inside told you it does not like what it sees, this is the subconscious telling you not to like what you see. It happens pretty much automatically because of patterns learnt through life.

In other words, low self-esteem is often the result of flaws in our subconscious, automatic thoughts are often not rational. They are often not based in fact – very often they become embedded from childhood  and they are overly critical and unhealthy.

But what if these thoughts could be quietened, or better still, removed altogether?

What if we could gain control over our inner voice and re-train the mind to be more supportive, more positive and more helpful?

That is the basis of confidence hypnosis.

CONFIDENT BEHAVIOURS LOW CONFIDENT BEHAVIOURS
Doing what you believe, even if others criticize you Only behaving based on others opinions
Risk taking and going extra mile to achieve things Staying in comfort zone fearing failure
Admitting mistakes Shunning responsibility for errors
Expecting congratulations on accomplishments Dismisses compliments when given, playing down your own work

As you can see from the table, self-confidence when low can be self-destructive, it often manifests itself as negativity.

Confident people are generally more positive, upbeat and lively – they believe in themselves and their own abilities, they also believe in living life to the full and we can help you to achieve that too.

Recognizing Anxiety: Symptoms, Signs, and Risk Factors

Anxiety is a normal part of human life and behaviours.

You may have felt some anxiety before speaking to a group or a job application/interview.

In the short term, anxiety increases your breathing and heart rate, it concentrates the blood flow to your brain, which is at that moment where you need it. This natural physical response is preparation you to face a (perceived) intense situation. If it gets too intense, however, you may begin to feel lightheaded (giddy) and nauseous. An excessive or persistent state of anxiety can have a devastating effect on your physical and mental well-being.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), about 40 million adults have some type of anxiety disorder every year.

An anxiety disorder is a condition in which you experience frequent, powerful bouts of anxiety that interfere with your daily life. This type of anxiety can get in the way of family, career, and social obligations.

But, these symptoms can be combatted, you can overcome and control them, we give and teach various techniques for managing situations in ways that will enable you to power through them in ways you cannot imagine, empowering you to take control of your own life.

PHOBIA/FEARS

A very common reason people visit a hypnotherapist is to overcome a fear or phobia.

Fears are an evolutionary natural part of life. Everyone fears something, certain types of fear are not necessarily bad; as it may prompt someone to take necessary precautions, such as locking doors or wearing safety belts.

Most fears develop in childhood, but fears can develop during adulthood. Some fears that develop in adulthood are caused by chemical imbalances such as a hypoglycemic reaction; but many are the results of repressed memories.

One indication of whether a fear is physical or psychological is the duration of the reaction. Psychological reactions are usually triggered by anticipation, and become less intense once the anticipated event begins. Physical reactions tend to become more intense once the event begins. If a person experiences a fear strongly and/or frequently, they may begin to fear losing control. They can become afraid to feel the fear; and go out of their way to avoid anything that might trigger it. When this happens, the fear has become a phobia. (A fear may also be considered a phobia an individual can feel the sensation of being afraid without recognizing what triggered the feeling.) Whenever a fear or phobia gets in someone's way, interfering with their life-style, or causing them to avoid something they would like to do, then it should be treated.

In mild cases, where a trigger is recognizable to you, but you would like help in controlling your reaction, post-hypnotic suggestions can help control their system, help remaining calm and achieve a relaxed state of mind. This  will permit them to deal with the problem they are confronted with in a calm and rational manner.

More severe cases are often the result of a traumatic childhood event. Most of the time the event can no longer be recalled by the conscious mind, but is still very much kept alive in the subconscious. in cases like this, the hypnotherapist will often employ techniques to remove the connection to this event.

Why not get in touch and free yourself of your fears and phobias stopping you enjoying a full happy life!

Weight Loss

People often come for help to lose weight as a last resort after trying numerous unsuccessful diets and exercise routines.

The question we ask is

“What is behind the weight gain?”

Often it is our own relationship with ourselves and how we deal with life’s stresses and challenges for example using food for comfort. Some people struggle with weight from a young age, have been bullied at school or in destructive relationships, for others, it is putting the family needs first, poor lifestyle choices or not prioritising their own health.

Everyone has a different story and we use hypnosis to deal with the underlying issues so real changes can be made.

We use hypnosis to work on changing the perception of ourselves and our body image. Kinetic shift can remove body phobias or self-loathing and hypnotherapy can support positive lifestyle changes and choices that lead to long-term weight loss.

For weight loss we offer a range of options according to your preferences, please contact us to discuss the options available.

Make positive changes today and improve your mental and physical health in as little as one session.

Stop Smoking

Hypnotherapy can be very successful in smokers who wish to stop for health, social or financial reasons, provided they want to stop themselves and haven’t been pressured or encouraged to stop by others.

In other words, it’s successful if you want to stop. It can usually be dealt with in one session although some may prefer a follow-up session after a month.

Smoking is addictive. Physical cravings are caused by nicotine altering the chemical balance of the brain which affects mood and concentration. As your brain gets used to the nicotine, it needs more to achieve the same feeling of pleasure and stress reduction, so you end up smoking more to get the same effect.

Long-term smoking is linked to ill health and reduced life expectancy as well as being a financial burden and can affect close relationships. How much better would you feel if you gave up completely and how much money would you save financially?

Hypnosis gets results by working directly with the subconscious mind to address the desire to smoke and associated cravings.

Results are often immediate and long-term provided the client wants to give up themselves.

Book in today for either an appointment or a free 15-minute evaluation session and begin your journey to being a non-smoker.

Men's Issues

John has a particular interest in men’s health issues including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety & Trauma
  • Addictive behaviour
  • Performance issues.
  • Sexual problems including lost libido, erectile dysfunction, porn addiction

He has struggled with post-traumatic stress and anxiety and had periods of depression which gives him an understanding of the negative impact these can have on people's lives and relationships.

Mental health, whether male or female has become an important topic in the news as people are encouraged to be more open about their mental and physical health issues. Important changes are taking place to reduce the stigma and isolation felt by individuals and there is more recognition and support in the workplace. However, many men still regard discussing problems as being weak and they are anxious about how they will be perceived by peers or colleagues. Men need to be able to talk freely and work through their issues or access the support that they need without judgment.

Hypnotherapy can support men in a variety of ways, helping with anxiety, depression, relationship or family issues, or physical issues such as supporting pain control or improving athletic performance. As we are a male and female team, we can offer a choice of therapists or work together as a couple either with individuals, couples, or families as required.
