Who are we?
We are Cath & John Tate, known as the Hypno-Tates, a man and wife team. We specialize in Grief and Anxiety after we lost our son aged 19 to suicide and struggled to find the support we needed. We were both diagnosed with PTSD and understand the challenges and effects that post-trauma has on daily life but also that there are solutions, for us this was hypnotherapy.
We are the only trained Sexual Freedom Therapists in Cumbria having trained with the internationally renowned Kaz Riley to support you to make the changes you need to have a happier and more fulfilled sex life whether your issues are physical or mental.
Although we specialise in Grief and Anxiety, we can help you with trauma, stress, PTSD, stopping smoking, weight loss, fears, phobias, and men's health.
We can work individually or together if needed to help you find the solutions you need to move forward in your life. We are flexible and give you a choice of male or female therapists. We are based in Carlisle, Cumbria, but work globally over Zoom to give you support and therapy without leaving home or you can attend face-to-face appointments, whichever you prefer.

Sexual Freedom Practitioners: Sexual Freedom Hypnosis
SEXUAL FREEDOM HYPNOSIS
Hypnosis can address the guilt and shame often associated with sex at its core on a subconscious level.
It can create new behaviour patterns and responses whilst improving the mind and body connection, this allows the person to take back sexual control.
It can help people to have positive and fulfilling sexual experiences by feeling comfortable with their own and others’ bodies, and giving themselves permission to give and receive pleasure whilst communicating their own needs, wants, and desires.
Join the sexual freedom revolution.
TRAUMA & GRIEF THERAPIES
We listen and are guided by you to help you understand how past experiences, often from childhood, affect life now and the way in which you view yourself. behave and react.
Beginning therapy and moving through the process can be daunting as it often brings up difficult or painful emotions and memories but by using what is called "Content Free Therapy" there is no need to revisit or verbalise past trauma in order to resolve the issues and is more gentle than many talking therapies.
Our goal is to create a safe therapeutic environment for you to feel empowered to change and move forward more positively in your life.
It is our job to support you gently and safely in the processes of self-discovery, recovery, healing, and growth.
We deeply respect each and every one of our clients and feel honored to be able to support them in changing their lives.
What you can expect?
First we will ask you for a brief summary of the issues and how they affect you, but if necessary the session can be conducted "Content Free" where you give the minimum information but we can still guide you in your mind to resolve your issues.
We will fully explain the whole process of hypnosis, induction (going into hypnosis) right through to your release from hypnosis. We will also discuss and review your treatment goals before and after each session. We will decide after speaking with you, which method of induction suits your needs, this could be using a soothing tone and describing images that create a sense of relaxation security and well-being as you go into hypnosis, or a rapid induction technique.
When you're in a receptive state of hypnosis, we will suggest ways for you to achieve your goals at a sub-conscious level, such as reducing pain or eliminating cravings to smoke and ways to deal with the issues you have presented with. We may also help you visualize vivid, meaningful mental images of yourself accomplishing your future goals.
When the session is over, either you are able to bring yourself out of hypnosis or we will help you end your state of hypnosis.
Contrary to how hypnosis is sometimes portrayed in movies or on television, you will not lose control over your behaviour while under hypnosis, you will remain aware of surroundings and remember what happened during hypnosis. People worry about the therapist taking over your mind or controlling you, but hypnosis is really only a state of focus which enables us to speak directly to your subconscious which controls our thoughts and actions without us consciously being aware. Have you ever watched a film or been on a long journey, then you realise that time has flown by without you noticing? It is the same with hypnosis it is just a state of pure focus.
You may eventually be able to practice self-hypnosis, in which you can induce a state of hypnosis in yourself. You can use this skill as needed — for instance for pain relief or to encourage a positive mental attitude
